Salary Range: $16.11-$20.58/hr DOQ

Reports to: Superintendent of Golf Grounds or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, Seasonal Golf Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and landscaping tasks related to the continual care and upkeep of the golf course. Duties include but not limited to; mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, watering, trash picking/collection, etc. and other duties as assigned. 

Essential Duties

  • Mow Greens, Tees, Collars, Approaches, Fairways, Roughs and other areas as directed.
  • Waters Overnight as needed by managements determination.
  • Repairs the Irrigation system, pipes, and irrigation heads as needed.
  • Grades and prepares soil base. Lays sod and seeds areas as needed.
  • Perform power and trim mowing on golf course. 
  • Demonstrate and support Park District customer service standards.
  • Follow district and department safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures and ordinances.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 

 

Hours

This is a part-time, seasonal, union position. This position requires working Monday through Friday with one morning on weekends. Holidays and overnight as needed. Hours range from 40-55 hours a week.

None

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and equipment and in outdoor weather conditions.   Employee frequently works in situations and is exposed to fumes, airborne particles and other hazards and elements.  The noise level within the employee’s work environment frequently exceeds the normal decibel levels. The Park District provides safety equipment for these situations.

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
