Security Technician II

Job Function:

The Security Technician II is an advanced, skilled-level position within Beacon Communications Operations Department. The Technician-II provides skilled/certified installation service on projects including Healthcare, Education, Security, Audio-Visual, Voice/ Data, and other technologies. The salary range for this role is between $25 - $30, commensurate on relevant education and experience. 

This position provides Beacon Communications with advanced certification-level, technical employees. Technician II employees have demonstrated a thorough competency in field installation techniques, and a thorough understanding of Beacon Communications standards and methodology.

The Security Technician II has achieved factory certification on one (1) or more systems provided by Beacon Communications in Healthcare, Education, Security, Audio-Visual, and other technologies which may be provided by Beacon Communications. Technician-II demonstrates initial cross-training on multiple applications. This position will be responsible for occasional supervisory duties on projects from 5k to 50k at the discretion of the Project Manager, to maintain the project schedule with onsite technicians and to assist with project completion on budget.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Assist Technicians or Project Manager with accomplishing daily tasks essential to timely and scheduled completion of projects.
2. Supervise installers in completion of daily tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.
3. Demonstrate ability to accomplish assigned tasks on schedule.
4. Demonstrate installation methodology in wire pull, device installation, wire pathing, and other tasks as they are assigned.
5. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of systems upon which factory certification is achieved.
6. Demonstrate thorough understanding of Beacon Communications policies, procedures and guidelines.
7. Provide accurate ADP time entry to Coordination Manager according to Beacon Communications policies.
8. Overnight travel, as necessary.
9. Provide daily reports to Technicians or Project Managers on work completed and issues related to project completion.
10. Demonstrate understanding of Beacon projects, and work toward advancing to Lead Technician.
11. Wear Beacon shirts provided by Beacon Communications.
12. Arrive for work on time, dressed in a professional manner acceptable for the work to be performed.
13. Other leadership duties as assigned.
14. Realizing that customer relations and customer satisfaction is our primary goal, perform in a professional manner demonstrating courtesy and respect to Beacon customers.
15. Tools will be provided to a Tech II on an as needed basis. Installer will be responsible for providing reasonable care in protecting and maintaining tools. Cost of repair or replacement for tools that are lost or damaged due to negligence will be deducted from Techs pay at the sole discretion of Beacon Management.
16. Ability to effectively troubleshoot, or isolate problems, in systems which Technician-II is factory certified or possesses a strong understanding of.
17. Administer weekly safety talks to assigned crew and submit log to the Coordination Manager.

19. Participate in the on-call rotation with the Service Department to gain a better understanding of all solutions Beacon provides. Company vehicle will be issued for the week scheduled. Must have clean MVR to drive a company vehicle, otherwise mileage will be paid at .55 per mile.

Supervision:

1. Project related activities will be performed under the supervision of the assigned Project Manager.
2. Service related activities will be performed under the supervision of the Service Coordinator or Service Manager.
3. All activities will be performed under the direct, or indirect, supervision of the Field Operations Manager.

Supervisory Duties:

1. Some supervision of technician activities as assigned by Project Manager.

Job Qualifications:

1. Knowledge:
   1. Thorough knowledge and understanding of low-voltage related installation considerations and techniques.
   2. Factory certification on one (1) or more Beacon Communications system.
2. Skills and Abilities
   1. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with multiple types of end-user customers.
   2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in difficult situations with employees with various personalities and emotions.
   3. Must understand implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.

3. Education:
   1. High School Diploma or approved equivalent.
4. Experience:
   1. 3 to 4 years experience in low-voltage industry is desirable.
   2. For a Tech II to advance to a Lead Tech roll they must have a minimum of? Hours (?) with Beacon Communications or at the discretion of management.

Work Environment

1. Work environment can be an office environment, medical facility, educational facility, or a customer site under construction, renovation or warehouse space.
2. Job sites will have a variety of environmental factors including but not limited to noise, dust, and temperature changes. PPE (personal protective equipment) is to be worn under all appropriate conditions.
3. Employee must have capability to transfer job sites at managements discretion.

Essential Functions

1. Ability to communicate with project PMs and the site GC to resolve any issues that may arise
2. Ability to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
3. Ability to read blue prints and construction drawings
4. Requires sitting, prolonged standing, walking, handling, gripping, pushing, pulling, and reaching over head with force. Also requires stooping, crouching, crawling on knees and work along floors/sub floors.
5. Ability to physically transport ladders up to 12 feet in height and lift ladders off of vehicle roof racks. Must be willing and able to climb and stand on ladders and scaffolding.
6. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds, sometimes overhead.
7. Ability to use power actuated hand tools, i.e., hammers, drills, saws.
8. Ability to see a full spectrum of color for correct wire identification.
9. Maintain a clear background check in order to satisfy customer jobsite badging requirements.
10. Willing to submit to all vaccinations and screening tests required for customer jobsite badging protocol.
11. Maintain a clear drug and alcohol screening protocol.
12. Ability to navigate all types of construction sites.
13. 20-30% travel requirement in Rocky Mountain region, as needed.
14. Holds an OSHA 10 or higher certification as well as thorough knowledge of guidelines covering the NEC and TIA/EIA standards.
